CBU Panel Discussion Plenary

Objectives for the Session:

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify factors such as environmental, psychological, psychosocial, or physiological contributing to homelessness.
  2. Discuss the health disparities seen in vulnerable and underserved populations such as the homeless.
  3. Evaluate ways to provide biblically based and holistic care for all people.

Abstract:

Homelessness is a complex problem. Healthcare providers can adapt their practice to meet the needs and provide resources for this vulnerable population. As followers of Christ, we can treat all people as fellow image bearers of Christ and show honor and respect to everyone without judgment. We can create meaning in each moment as we encounter another created being. The bible tells us that compassionate care for the whole person can foster shalom, or peace, health, safety, security, and justice for all people.
